Canada & Alberta Money Calendar 2026: Benefit Payments, CRA Dates and Key Financial Events

Canadian household reviewing benefit payment dates and important financial events on a monthly calendar.

Canada has several benefit, pension and tax-credit payment schedules, while Alberta has additional provincial programs with their own dates.

This calendar brings the most useful dates together in one place so you do not have to check several government websites every month.

For October 2026, the dates to watch are October 5, 9, 15, 20, 26, 27 and 28. Eligibility is different for every program, so a date on this calendar does not mean everyone will receive a payment.

October 5: Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit

The Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit (CGEB) is scheduled for October 5, 2026.

The benefit replaced the GST/HST credit in July 2026 while keeping the same basic eligibility and payment structure. It is paid quarterly to eligible individuals and families with low or modest incomes.

The CRA calculates eligibility using information from your income tax return. You generally do not submit a separate recurring application once your tax information is available.

One detail is easy to miss: if the benefit calculated in July was less than $50 per quarter, the CRA may have paid the remaining annual amount as a single payment in July. In that situation, you may not receive another payment in October.

For eligibility, income rules and the full payment schedule, see Maple Curiosity’s Canada Groceries & Essentials Benefit 2026 guide.

October 9: Advanced Canada Workers Benefit

The next Advanced Canada Workers Benefit (ACWB) payment is scheduled for October 9.

The ACWB lets eligible workers receive part of their Canada Workers Benefit before the next tax return is assessed. The advance is based largely on information already available to the CRA from the previous tax return.

There is no single payment amount that applies to everyone. Working income, adjusted family net income, marital status, province or territory and disability eligibility can affect the calculation.

Maple Curiosity’s Advanced Canada Workers Benefit October 2026 guide explains how the payment works and who may qualify.

October 15: Canada Disability Benefit

The Canada Disability Benefit payment date for October is October 15.

The federal benefit provides financial support to eligible people with disabilities between ages 18 and 64. Payments are normally issued on the third Thursday of each month.

Receiving the Disability Tax Credit does not by itself mean a payment will automatically appear on every listed date. Applicants must satisfy the Canada Disability Benefit’s eligibility requirements and have an approved application.

October 20: Canada Child Benefit

The October Canada Child Benefit (CCB) payment is scheduled for October 20.

The CCB is a tax-free monthly benefit for eligible families with children under age 18. Payments made from July 2026 through June 2027 are generally calculated using information from the family’s 2025 tax return.

Changes in marital status, custody, the number of children in the household or family income information can affect the amount.

For payment dates, maximum amounts and income rules, see the Maple Curiosity Canada Child Benefit 2026 guide.

October 26: Alberta Seniors Benefit

Eligible Alberta seniors are scheduled to receive the October Alberta Seniors Benefit payment on October 26.

The program provides financial assistance to eligible Alberta seniors, with the amount depending on income and family circumstances.

For the benefit year beginning July 1, 2026, Alberta lists income guidelines of $32,690 or less for a single senior and $53,800 or less for a senior couple where income includes the full Old Age Security pension. These figures are guidelines rather than a guarantee of eligibility or a particular payment amount.

October 27: AISH and Income Support

Alberta issues AISH and Income Support benefits four business days before the first day of the benefit month.

Because November 1, 2026 falls on a Sunday, the November direct-deposit payment date works back to Tuesday, October 27.

Alberta states that direct-deposit payments are made four business days before the first of the month, while benefit cheques are mailed earlier.

October 28: CPP and Old Age Security

October 28 is the scheduled payment date for both the Canada Pension Plan (CPP) and Old Age Security (OAS).

The CPP schedule covers retirement pensions as well as CPP disability, children’s and survivor benefits. The OAS schedule also includes programs such as the Guaranteed Income Supplement and Allowances where applicable.

October 28: Bank of Canada Interest Rate Decision

October 28 is also a major date for Canadian borrowers and savers.

The Bank of Canada is scheduled to announce its next policy interest-rate decision at 9:45 a.m. Eastern Time. The October announcement will be accompanied by a new Monetary Policy Report.

A Bank of Canada rate decision does not automatically cause every mortgage, savings account or loan rate to move by the same amount. Variable-rate products tend to respond differently from fixed-rate products, which are influenced heavily by bond-market pricing.

For the broader connection between the policy rate and borrowing costs, see Maple Curiosity’s Bank of Canada Interest Rate Outlook 2026.

Before October: September 30 Alberta Energy Rebate Deadline

There is also one immediate Alberta deadline before the October calendar begins.

The application deadline for Alberta’s $100 energy rebate is September 30, 2026 for people who must apply rather than being automatically enrolled through an eligible provincial program.

If this applies to your household, do not wait for an October payment calendar before checking eligibility.

See Maple Curiosity’s Alberta $100 Energy Rebate 2026 guide for the eligibility requirements and application details.

What if a CRA payment does not arrive?

Do not assume a payment is missing simply because it does not appear first thing in the morning.

For the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit and Advanced Canada Workers Benefit, the CRA advises waiting 10 working days after the scheduled payment date before contacting the agency about a missing payment.

For the Canada Child Benefit and Alberta Child and Family Benefit, the CRA’s current guidance is to wait 5 working days.

Coming Next: November 2026

The purpose of this page is to remain useful after October rather than becoming another expired news article.

Several November dates are already scheduled:

  • November 19 — Canada Disability Benefit
  • November 20 — Canada Child Benefit
  • November 24 — Alberta Seniors Benefit
  • November 26 — CPP and OAS
  • November 27 — Alberta Child and Family Benefit

Families receiving the Alberta Child and Family Benefit can also review Maple Curiosity’s ACFB 2026 payment guide.

Why This Calendar Includes More Than CRA Payments

A household budget is affected by more than one government program.

A parent may be watching CCB and the Alberta Child and Family Benefit. A worker may be waiting for the ACWB. A senior may need to track both federal pensions and the Alberta Seniors Benefit. A homeowner may care more about the next Bank of Canada decision than a benefit payment.

Putting those dates together makes it easier to see what is happening in a single month rather than opening several separate federal and provincial calendars.

How to Use This Page

Bookmark this page if you regularly check Canadian or Alberta benefit dates.

The calendar will continue to use the same URL as payment schedules and financial dates move forward. When a date involves a complicated eligibility rule or a major policy change, Maple Curiosity will link to a separate detailed guide rather than trying to fit every rule into the calendar itself.

Always verify eligibility and personal payment information through the relevant government account or official program page. A scheduled payment date does not guarantee that a particular person qualifies for that payment.
